This escutchion is used for doors with an “old-fashioned” mortice lock. Here, small wood screws are used to affix the escutcheon, so they don’t hit the mortice. However, if it is a door without a mortice lock or a newer mortice sash lock designed for passthrough screws, you should choose SJC Classic I.
